On September 28th, Ivan Garcia, an associate at our Los Angeles location, did something truly remarkable.
At ImageFIRST Healthcare Laundry Specialists, we strive to provide people with much more than healthcare linens. Wherever possible, we look to improve the patient experience while contributing to local communities. On September 28th, one of our associates, Ivan Garcia, went above and beyond the call of duty, embodying our company’s values.
Mr. Garcia, an associate at our Los Angeles location, spotted an altercation occurring in a local park near his home in San Diego. While a mother strolled the park with her two-month-old infant, a man snatched the baby from her arms and shoved her away. San Diego police later confirmed that the man was the baby’s father. As police arrived at the scene, the man held officers at bay with a knife and fled.
For over an hour, Mr. Garcia followed the man on foot while relaying his position to the authorities. By working with the police, he helped to identify pinpoint the man’s location. As officers converged on the suspect, Mr. Garcia stalled for time by talking to the man. His quick thinking calmed the man down. Earning the man’s trust gave police enough time to close in and arrest him. The suspect surrendered peacefully, and the child was unharmed
“Our company’s values are universal: safety is paramount, especially when children and infants are involved,” stated Garcia. “At that moment, all I could think about were my own kids. If one of my babies was in that kind of a situation, what would I want someone else to do? It just felt like the right course of action.”
ImageFIRST Healthcare Laundry Specialists proudly recognizes him for his bravery and commitment to his community. As a company, we cannot begin to express our respect for Mr. Garcia and the pride we take in his heroic behavior.
Every day, we endeavor to apply our values to the products and services that we offer. As a business that serves the healthcare industry exclusively, we realize that we directly impact many people when they are most vulnerable. Whether they are recovering from a long illness or undergoing an outpatient procedure, we work hard to make patients as comfortable as possible with sanitized medical linens.
Ultimately, we hope to make both patients’ lives and the lives of the medical professionals that care for them easier. To learn more about our company or the services we provide, visit our homepage at www.imagefirst.com or call us at 1-800-932-7472 today.
