ImageFIRST Hosts Annual Backpack Drive for Students in Need

For students across the nation, summer offers a brief respite from their academic regimen. But once it’s time to go back to school, many families are unable to afford the necessary supplies that their students will need to be successful. However, they’re not without help: For the third year in a row, ImageFIRST is hosting a nationwide Backpack Donation Drive to help students to be prepared for the new school year.

The event kicked off on Monday, July 3rd at participating ImageFIRST locations across the country. Each ImageFIRST office selected a local charitable organization to which they will donate backpacks to. The organizations, in turn, provided a unique list of materials needed for the students that they serve. The ImageFIRST office provides all of the backpacks, while associates were only asked to bring in the requested materials. They were encouraged to reach out to family, friends, and professional contacts in order to gather more donations for their local organization.

At our Corporate Office, our associates decided to have some fun with the backpack drive by turning it into a competition. The approximately 40 associates broke up into teams, each of which was named after a popular movie taking place in a school, including Team Breakfast Club, Team Animal House, Team Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Team Napolean Dynamite, and Team Clueless. Their goal? To fill 20 backpacks. The first team to reach this goal would be declared the winner. The supplies that they were asked to collect included:

  • Spiral and composition notebooks
  • Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue and glue sticks
  • Rulers
  • Folders
  • Crayons and colored pencils
  • Tape
  • Tissues
  • Hand sanitizer

All of the backpacks from the Corporate Office will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia, which serves children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The competition runs through the end of July for all of the participating ImageFIRST locations. Last year, we collected over 1,000 backpacks - we hope that this year, we are able to surpass that mark.

Each quarter, ImageFIRST locations choose a worthwhile cause to which they donate their time and resources. These volunteer events serve as a way to strengthen the bonds between our associates and the communities that we serve. Giving back to our community is one just way in which we aspire to be a remarkable medical laundry service and supplier.
