ImageFIRST Corporate Office Volunteers at Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia for Annual Community Giving Day
On Friday, October 11, 2019, ImageFIRST offices throughout the country participated in their annual Community Giving Day. This year, the theme was "Making a Difference, The ImageFIRST Way."
The tradition of the annual ImageFIRST Community Giving Day began in 2015, making this year the fifth year of participation. As is tradition, each participating ImageFIRST office embodied this theme by selecting a local charity with whom to partner for the day.
This year, the Corporate office based in King of Prussia, Pa. chose to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia (BGC) again. In true fashion, the team of 40-some associates came ready to work.
BGC's mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The group's vision is: Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia will become one of the premier Boys & Girls Club organizations in the country, solidifying its position as the leading youth guidance and development agency in the community through quality staffing, facilities, and programs supported by financial stability and clearly defined standards.
Executive Vice President of Programs, Partnerships, and Development Libby Lescalleet provided the associates with a long list of to-dos, which they took as a personal challenge to complete.
During the 4 hours ImageFIRST associates spent at the Walnut Street location, they cleaned, painted and weeded the outside, painted the 3rd floor and set up for a party, organized and cleaned the teen room, computer room, janitor closet, front desk, and inside basketball court, decorated boards, put together art kits for other Boys & Girls Clubs locations, and put together snack bags.
The rest of our locations didn't stay idle! Our New York/New Jersey team had a meal packing event in their plant with Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief non-profit organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food and other life-changing aid to people in developing nations. They packed over 12,500 meals!
Our Pittsburgh team went to Salvation Army, while our Lancaster and Maryland teams went to 2 different parks in Columbia, PA (Glatfelter Memorial Field and Locust Street Park) to paint fences, landscape and do overall clean up.
Our Atlanta team volunteered with Foster Care Support organizing clothing for children and assisting in overall clean up. North Carolina associates participated in three different projects: organizing food at a local food pantry, bagging lunches for Ronald McDonald House and landscaping at the Heroes Center.
Meanwhile our Miami team was at the Miami Rescue Mission preparing and distributing food and assembling Thanksgiving food bags. And Ft. Myers associates bagged meals at Meals of Hope for those in need in the local community.
Our Los Angeles associates participated in a clean-up project in Long Beach and San Francisco cleaned up a local stream. Dallas volunteered at Goodwill where the associates separated products and organized clothing.
Associates in Chicago served at a local Salvation Army separating, preparing, and filling boxes of children’s coats to send to schools in the local area. Finally, Detroit associates partnered with both the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, a 20-city block urban garden where our associates helped harvest and sift compost, and Team Wellness, a local shelter where 150 homeless people are served, passing out winter gear bags, and helping to brighten their day.
ImageFIRST's annual Community Giving Day and ongoing community giving activities are one of the ways associates bring the company's purpose to life: To create a great company by positively impacting the lives of our associates, our communities, our customers, and their patients.
